COVID-19 Vaccine doses - system reports
Prison systems have begun vaccine distribution for incarcerated people. Below, we report totals for all systems that provide real-time, public vaccination information. Data are extracted from public-facing correctional dashboards using a combination of manual entry and web scraping, an automated process in which computer programs copy data from web pages. States that do not report vaccination data publicly are not included in this table.
Note: Systems report vaccination data in a myriad of formats. For simplicity, we have divided this into three categories: 1) number of people who are incarcerated who have received at least one vaccination, 2) percent of people who are incarcerated who have received at least one vaccination, 3) number of staff who have received at least one vaccination.
|*AZ reports “a total of first and second vaccine doses” only.|
**BOP only reports counts of fully vaccinated individuals.
***ME reports the percentage of individuals who are fully vaccinated. As such, the number of people who are incarcerated who have received at least one vaccination are calculated from that percentage value and population data.
